    1. Last year questions : http://myftiidream.blogspot.in/2012/05/ftii-2012-entrance-exam-questions-and.html

generally this is the basic pattern
can crack it easily if known about Indian artists and culture well
like different art forms , dances , dancers, painters, cinema history and also recent awards .

Inter net is more than enough for preparing for written exam

      All the very best ...

    2. Could you please inform me about how i can prepare myself for essay type questions ? Is there any possibility of repeatability in these questions year after year ?
      We had questions like
      1) short notes on NFAI
      2) Describe a rainy day from a visual point of view etc
and these were repeated from 2011 to 2012 it seems. so just asking .

(I am BCA graduate with basic photography skills and i wanted to know if i stand any chance at all with no media background or experience in graduation or at workplace ?)

    3. hi there ...

questions like NFAI are expected to be answered by people who are really passionate about films !
Cause not many people who sit and prepare for these exams get selected , as during the interview , the panel members are so much expereinced handling many aspirants each year that they will know if the candidate is really passioanate or not (and for your information , just for the name or rather the so called brand name also some apply !!)

But the point is - will they take in people without expereince in the media line like any works done before !
obviously they dont care about ur previous work ! so the answer is - dont worry about you had previous works or something in the relevant course u r applying . they again see if u r really interested r nt !

just be free , love films (if u do so )
read some info about films - like very first films made in India .
famous director (not just hindi , but all languages espicaially Bengali)
and love your country - know about all states beautiful culture - dance forms , dancers , singers, writers , festivals , temples and other monuments , and the Indian basic story - civilisations and all

These all might sound like some big thing, but once reading there are more beautiful as you read on ...

      Watch movies ..... lots ...
dont restrict yourself with one kinda films - watch international films too
      write your own reviews ...

clearing the exam is not that tough
just read through these key points and also more as there is sufficient time now

      All the best

    4. Thanks again for taking time to answer my questions.

I have decided to select Cinematography stream at exams and that's only because i own a still camera and am a hobbyist photographer. I have never shot a short film or even a proper video clip. I am just interested and passionate in film making and would settle for any stream in FTII . Its the whole process i am interested in . Would it help to choose editing or sound (equally clueless to me as cinematography is) so as to increase chances of getting selected. i am only asking because i am told direction and cinematography are most competitive amongst others ( even though to get into FTII in any stream is difficult already ) . Please advice . And by the way congrats on getting into FTII( delayed wishes, i know) and wishing you a great year ahead .Thnx again for replying the queries , means much .

    1. Whoever you are .... I am really sorry to say that Its really sad to hear such a question !!
You should know the purpose of applying the selected course !!!
How could someone else spoon feed you what your purpose of applying the course which yourself is unaware of !!

They are expecting to know what the course means to you and why you are applying that specific course !!

  6. I am confused about which course to apply for. Though Im interested in direction, i have no previous experience, and i beleive it'll be difficult to get into, since so many people apply for it. So i think i should apply for screenplay writing, since i am good in writing. what do you say??

  7. I don't really have much work experience. Just a degree in mass communication. But i really love cinema and photography.
I think I'll get through the written exam. But,I'm scared for the interview.
are my chances going to decrease if I don't have work experience?

  12. Hey Brother..hope you are doing fine..

I had given the exam for direction course and this is my first attempt. Was an excellent feeling giving the exam itself.Meeting people who are interested in different fields in Film-making.I read around 4k people appeared for the exam (a good sign) and most sought after course is direction with about 27% of total appearing for it.
Now, may i please know around when the results will be out as it has been two months since the exam. Expecting a reply from you :)
